ABOUT ME

Hello and welcome to my site!

My name is Kevin King and I hope you enjoy my site as much as I enjoyed working on my featured projects! I am a dedicated designer and innovator with a degree in mechanical engineering and a certificate in engineering design from Northwestern University.

What I'm Up To Right Now

Currently, home is Detroit, Michigan where I live on the east side of the city with my beautiful and brilliant wife, Milana. She puts her passion for educational equity and social justice to work as an English teacher in the inner city. Our marriage is still young but we have already experienced tremendous joy and unbelievable heartbreak (sometimes at the same time) on this beautiful adventure together. I have learned more about God, myself, and the world in the short time I have been married to Milana than any amount of formal education or professional experience could hope to teach me. I am so thankful for my sweet bride.

Outside of our professional lives, Milana and I also serve Christ as members of Mack Avenue Community Church which seeks both spiritual and physical revitalization of the community in which we reside. We believe that when Jesus said to share the gospel message and serve the poor He really meant it and calls us to entirely reorient our lives around His mission. Tim Keller articulated the message of this mission beautifully in his book The Meaning Of Marriage:

The gospel is this: We are more sinful and flawed in ourselves than we ever dared believe, yet at the very same time we are more loved and accepted in Jesus Christ than we ever dared hope.

My decision to follow Christ is the most important decision of my entire life and if you would like to discuss it further, please contact me!

A Bit More About Me

I am passionate about improving the quality of life of others through my profession, my design work, and my life as a whole. I was born and raised in Chicago, IL and proudly champion deep dish pizza, the Chicago Cubs, and all that is good and true about my home town. I attended Northwestern University just north of Chicago which is where I met and fell in love with my sweet wife, Milana.

As much as I love Chicago, I also love to travel and use my engineering training to make a difference in the lives of individuals without access to basic necessities. I have been fortunate enough to attend an exceptional school and develop unique skills; I want to use those skills strategically to help those that I can.

Outside of engineering, I also play guitar and sing. I enjoy performing when given the opportunity and jamming with friends. Music is a wonderful way for me to press pause on a busy lifestyle and relax.
